Air consumption figures follow the current page’s L/min column. Confirm the values and reference conditions before sizing the compressed air supply.
Allow installation clearance for air connections and hot-air discharge. Confirm which outlet the listed connection size refers to against the product drawing before designing adapters.
Product Features
The vortex tube separates compressed air into cold and hot streams. The cold stream can be directed toward a selected component or process area requiring cooling.
316 Stainless Steel Body
The stainless steel body provides corrosion resistance for industrial environments. Suitability should be checked against the chemicals and conditions present at the installation.
No Moving Parts in the Vortex Cooling Element
The cooling effect is generated by airflow within the tube, without a motor or mechanically driven refrigeration components inside the vortex cooling element.
Localized Heat Removal
Cold airflow can be applied close to a heat source, supporting cooling of selected machine components, fixtures or process points.
Multiple Cooling Capacity Options
Nine SC models offer different published cooling capacities and airflow requirements. This allows selection around the application’s heat load and available compressed air supply.
Compact Threaded Construction
Body lengths of 130 or 160 mm and threaded connections help engineers integrate the tube into suitable mounting and air-delivery arrangements.
Cooling Without Liquid Application
The tube provides an option where liquid coolant residue is undesirable. Air cleanliness depends on the quality of the compressed air supply and its filtration.
Applications
Welding Fixtures and Auxiliary Components
Can be evaluated for cooling selected fixtures or nearby equipment exposed to welding heat. Airflow placement must avoid disturbing shielding gas or the welding process.
Casting Equipment
Provides localized cooling for suitable tooling and equipment areas around casting operations. Application design should account for thermal gradients and the required cooling rate.
Mold Cooling
Can direct cold air toward accessible mold areas or related components where additional spot cooling is required. Performance depends on the heat load and access to the cooling surface.
Electronic Components
Suitable for evaluating localized cooling of heat-sensitive electronic components and test fixtures. Air quality and condensation control must meet the process requirements.
Electrical Control Equipment
Can serve as a cooling source in an appropriately engineered control-box installation. The complete arrangement must account for airflow distribution, exhaust, moisture and enclosure protection.
Motor and Machinery Components
Can supply spot cooling to accessible motor housings or machine components where localized heat buildup is a concern.

FAQ
What is a vortex tube?
A vortex tube is a device that separates compressed air into cold and hot air streams. The cold stream can be used for localized cooling in suitable industrial applications.
Does a vortex tube require electricity?
The tube’s cooling function is powered by compressed air and does not require an electrical connection at the device. The compressor supplying the air requires its own power source.
What is the difference between a vortex tube and a cold air gun?
A vortex tube is the core cooling device. A cold air gun generally combines vortex cooling with accessories for positioning and directing the airflow, such as a flexible nozzle and mounting base.
What temperature can the SC series achieve?
The current specifications do not state a guaranteed outlet temperature. Confirm performance for the intended inlet air conditions, pressure and airflow settings.
How do I select the correct model?
Compare the required cooling capacity, available compressed air flow, supply pressure, connection sizes and installation space. Confirm the published air consumption before selecting supply components.
What air quality is required?
Use suitably filtered, dry compressed air. For electronics or contamination-sensitive processes, specify acceptable moisture, oil and particle levels before installation.
Can the tube cool an electrical control cabinet?
It can be used as the cooling source in a properly designed system. A bare vortex tube does not by itself provide a complete cabinet cooling assembly or preserve an enclosure’s protection rating.
Can it replace a liquid cooling system?
That depends on the heat load and process requirements. The tube supplies cold air and does not provide liquid coolant lubrication or the same heat-transfer characteristics as liquid cooling.
Does the tube discharge hot air?
Yes. Vortex operation produces a hot stream as well as a cold stream. Keep the hot discharge clear and direct it away from heat-sensitive components.
